(May 18, 2020—NEW YORK) Our schools needed more social workers and mental health service providers even before students and families were confronted with the burden of life in the COVID-19 era. On May 15th, Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer hosted a virtual town hall on the need for more social workers in NYC public schools. The Community Co-sponsors were the NYU McSilver Institute and the Greater New York Chapter of the Links, Inc.
NYU McSilver Institute Executive Director Dr. Michael A. Lindsey joined a panel that included:
➤ Council Member Mark Treyger, Chair, New York City Council Education Committee
➤ Jasmin Berrios, LCSW at Partnership with Children
➤ David Garza, President of Henry Street Settlement
➤ Hilary Kopple, LCSW at the International High School at Union Square
