Jessica Bowers, LCSW is a clinical social worker with more than 15 years of experience working with pregnant and parenting families in New York City. She is a clinician at the McSilver Institute’s Safe Mothers, Safe Children (SMSC) study.

She is passionate about infant and early child mental health and supporting parents and families who have experienced trauma and are involved in the child welfare or criminal justice systems. Prior to working at McSilver, Jessica was the Child Therapist at Hour Children, a re-entry program where she was providing trauma-informed therapy to children ages 2-21, whose mothers were returning home from prison. She also spent many years working within Early Head Start and Head Start programs in Manhattan and Brooklyn.

Jessica is also an alum of the NYU Silver School of Social Work (’09). She joined the SMSC team as Bilingual Clinician providing therapeutic services to mothers who are diagnosed with PTSD and involved with the child welfare preventive system. In this role, she brings her clinical and community-based expertise into the research realm. Jessica aspires for her work to reach more women and families, and to change the landscape of child welfare services across NYC.

In her free time, Jessica loves to go see live music, hike, kayak, and spend time with her family and friends.
