Ammu D. Kowolik is Chief Operating Officer of the McSilver Institute, where she oversees the day-to-day operations of the institute, as well as the administrative, grants administration, and finance departments. She is also instrumental in shaping strategic initiatives for the institute. Ammu is passionate about social and racial justice, and is dedicated to issues around women’s rights and maternal health. She previously served as the institute’s Chief of Staff.

Prior to joining the McSilver Institute, Ammu worked with the National Association of Social Workers in the New York City Chapter, where she led efforts around fundraising, membership development, programming, and political action. Ammu received her MSW from the Silberman School of Social Work at Hunter College and her executive MPA from the New York University Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service
