Schools Need More Social Workers in the COVID-19 Era

(May 18, 2020—NEW YORK) Our schools needed more social workers and mental health service providers even before students and families were confronted with the burden of life in the COVID-19 era. On May 15th, Manhattan Borough President Gale A. Brewer  hosted a virtual town hall on the need for more social workers in NYC public schools. The Community Co-sponsors were the NYU McSilver Institute and the Greater New York Chapter of the Links, Inc.

NYU McSilver Institute Executive Director Dr. Michael A. Lindsey joined a panel that included:

➤ Council Member Mark Treyger, Chair, New York City Council Education Committee
➤ Jasmin Berrios, LCSW at Partnership with Children
➤ David Garza, President of Henry Street Settlement
➤ Hilary Kopple, LCSW at the International High School at Union Square
