Providers of psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery services support people experiencing mental health conditions in recovering skills, learning how to manage their care, find employment, and live independently. At its heart, this work helps individuals pursue their chosen life goals and thrive in their communities.
Frontline practitioners in this field need reliable and specialized knowledge resources to deliver effective, person-centered care and grow capacity across their workforce. So, in partnership with the Alliance for Rights and Recovery, the Center for Practice Innovation, InUnity Alliance, and the Curriculum Advisory Board and with support from the New York State Office of Mental Health, we developed the Psychiatric Rehabilitation Resource Library (PRRL) initiative this year. Through PRRL, psychiatric rehabilitation and recovery services providers across New York State have access to facilitated training modules, step-by-step guides, and other practical resources to help them deliver services.
This summer, we rolled out three new curriculum modules and completed the first training series focused on evidence-based and evidence-informed practices. Through the program, we helped certify 97 practitioners in Wellness Recovery Action Planning (WRAP) and Building Resilience for Individuals through Trauma Education (BRITE), a trauma-informed program that helps adults develop coping skills and build emotional resilience.
