Portrait of Robert "Meek Mill" Williams

Robert “Meek Mill” Williams is a critically-acclaimed multi-platinum hip-hop artist, songwriter, entrepreneur, actor and criminal justice reform advocate who hails from Philadelphia. Mill evolved from being the city’s hottest underground rapper to one of the world’s preeminent musical artists. His smash studio albums and singles include, “Ima Boss,” “Dreams and Nightmares (Intro),” “All Eyes on You” and “Whatever You Need.” His latest studio album, Championships, debuted at No. 1 on Billboard’s Top 200 Albums chart. Mill is also the CEO of Dream Chasers, the music label imprint that he launched in 2012.
Since 2007, Mill has been entrapped in the criminal justice system and shuffled through the prison system over technical probation violations, all despite never committing a crime. His latest incarceration in November 2017 spurred the international #FreeMeekMill movement, in which artists, athletes and business leaders such as JAY-Z, Michael Rubin, Kevin Hart and James Harden, publicly advocated on his behalf until he was released on bail in April 2018. Mill has since used his public platform to generate awareness around the problems of the criminal justice system — including excessive probation regulations, the disproportionate bail system and the lack of rehabilitation programs available — and highlight how they disproportionately affect people of color.
He is also the Co-Chair of the REFORM Alliance, which launched in 2019 and aims to advance criminal justice reform and eradicate outdated policies that perpetuate injustice in the United States. In recognition of his impact several cities and states, including his hometown of Philadelphia, Houston, Pennsylvania and Connecticut, each declared official Meek Mill days and weekends this year. Additionally, Mill serves as one of the captains of PUMA’s newly-launched #REFORM platform that enables PUMA ambassadors from the worlds of sports, music and entertainment to advocate for social justice issues and promote positive change.
Mill will be starring in the upcoming motion picture, 12 O’clock Boys, currently in production from Sony and Overbrook Entertainment. Also, he has teamed up with Amazon Prime Video and JAY-Z’s Roc Nation for #FreeMeek, a six-part documentary series (premiering later in 2019) that will follow his own fight for exoneration while exposing flaws in the criminal justice system.
