Harry Siegel is a senior editor at The Daily Beast, weekly columnist at The New York Daily News, and co-host along with 2018 McSilver fellow Professor Christina Greer of the podcast FAQ NYC. A National Magazine Award finalist in 2014, Harry has been writing about New York City and urban issues and characters for 20 years for outlets ranging from the Village Voice to the Wall Street Journal, Capital New York to Vice. The co-author of The Prince of the City: Giuliani, New York and the Genius of American Life, which was named one of the New York Times’ 100 notable books of 2005, Harry has served previously as, among other things, editor-in-chief of New York Press, an editor at Politico, an editorial board member of the New York Sun and then the New York Daily News, and as a Knight Wallace Fellow at the University of Michigan. A lifelong Brooklynite who teaches journalism at Brooklyn College, he appears regularly on radio and television outlets including MSNBC, NY1 and WNYC.
