NEW YORK, May 3, 2022 — The NYU McSilver Institute has released the following statement in response to news reports about a leaked draft Supreme Court opinion that affects the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision establishing a federal constitutional right to have an abortion:
If a right that women have had for 49 years is taken away, those in low-income communities and women of color will bear the brunt of Roe v. Wade being overturned. We must advocate for policies that protect the rights and lives of women nationwide.
