PUBLISHED ON July 20, 2016
An analysis of social work scholars’ productivity and impact published in Research on Social Work Practice (2016, doi: 10.1177/1049731516645929) placed McSilver Institute Director Dr. Mary McKay among the field’s 40 highest impact scholars.
Authors Dr. David R. Hodge, Kristen P. Kremer, and Dr. Michael G. Vaughn examined journal articles published by an elite sample of 143 fellows affiliated with the Society for Social Work and Research (SSWR) and/or the American Academy of Social Work and Social Welfare (AASWSW) in order to identify "major scientific contributors." They employed two common indices which measure scholarly impact based on number of publications as well as number of citations. Dr. McKay was ranked 26th using the h-index, which looks at cumulative career impact, and was ranked 10th using the m-index, which adjusts for career length.
McSilver Institute Deputy Director Gary Parker noted, "The study authors have provided documented evidence of what we at the McSilver Institute have witnessed firsthand: Mary McKay's work has an exceptional scientific impact."
